Poking fun at the security concerns around our browser
by doubling down on them—collaborating with an evil corp.
When Opera GX heard of online conspiracy theories about their security levels, rather than dismiss the concerns, which would undoubtedly only feed the trolls, the browser played into the claims by collaborating with Prime Video’s satirical superhero show ‘The Boys’ for its much-anticipated Season 4 launch.
The browser got ahead of the haters by taking ownership of any bad press with a big wink to their community, By “teaming up” with the fictional universe’s evilest corporation: Vought International.
Promoted by the company's puppet CEO, ‘BROWSER by Vought’ is a The Boys thematic plug-in for Opera GX users that turns their regular browser into a “super secure” version that keeps private data in YOUR hands. And theirs. And Homelander's -- the series’ ironical anti-hero superhero. Full of Easter Eggs for the upcoming season and over-the-top call-outs of our own product, we gave fans content they had been craving, and defused haters’ insinuations by making them mainstream.

Basing one power-hungry megacorporation
including narcissistic leader on another one.
Prime Video’s newest show, Gen V – a spin-off of the widely popular series The Boys, lauded for its satiric take on social commentary – is about a group college students learning to control their super powers while discovering that their university is harboring a sinister secret.
So to give new viewers some extra insight into the characters, Amazon Prime teamed up with gaming browser Opera GX to create V: A fictional Vought-owned social media platform filled with exclusive content from Gen V and loads of Easter eggs from the wider supe universe. To get the word out, we launched a cheeky promotional video parodying the social network that originally inspired V: Elon Musk’s X.
